Update 3: Exploring and Eating

This is view as I walk into school in the morning.
This is waht a big grocery store relatively near me looks like. Neat thing is that you can get stuff from China (obviously) but also all kinds of stuff from all over the world, not just the US. It's interesting trying new stuff out.
Across the street from my apartment is a neat shopping mall place that functions as a night market on the weekends...its a hopping place!
I found a local grocery store that sells Dr. Pepper! It's glorious! Far too pricy (about $1.50 per can) - but worth it for special days.
Yep, I'm in China!

A view across the Hongpu River of the "Puxi" side of town. Puxi literally means "West of River"...I'm in Pudong - "East of River"
If you need to do some shopping...this is one of many great options for you - especially if you want to spend huge amounts of money on fancy brands!

Cafeteria food at SAS is not too shabby! Good eats!
On smoggy days or days I can't be bothered to take the metro to go for a jog, my apartment complex has a small litlte gym with treadmills.
Some delicious Cantonese Pork with rice and bok choy...not bad for cafeteria food.
The cafeteria also has a couple types of pizza every day (this was a collegue's meal)

Being a Westerner, I tend to stick out whenever I'm out in public. When you add in a subway ride in my running shorts and orange shoes - I stick out to an even higher degree!
I've gone for a few run on the greenway by the Hongpu River after work. By the time I'm able to get home, change, take the subway to the route - it's just starting to be come dusk. The run gives me a great chance to watch night fall and all the lights of the city to turn on.

They've really made the path and greenery around the area look really neat.
Video doesn't show any of this but at particular times of the night, the buildings all sync together with music / lights / and fountains on the other side of the river to put on a little multimedia show. It's tough to capture but pretty neat to watch.
PE class in China isn't messing around when it comes to ping pong!

Saturday morning featured Parent Teacher Conferences. At the beginning of the day, parents lined the main hallway with a ton of food for breakfast. I ate far too much! It was quite yummy!

Online grocery shopping in China is nice - they bring it right to your door and it's waiting for you when you get home! Everything is done by delivery here...pretty handy!
